A Clueless Remake is Allegedly In the Works

Clueless is a perfect film. That's not an opinion, that is a fact and it's not something we're debating here today, or ever. But apparently Paramount believes the 90s classic needs to be reimagined for a new generation, as they reportedly have a Clueless remake in the works, according to Deadline. The remake is in the very early stages of development, but Girl Trip writer Tracy Oliver is producing with GLOW's writer Marquita Robinson on the script. That means the movie is in good hands, but still...why? Clueless is iconic because it is well written, funny, just the right amount of campy and because it nails the 90s so perfectly.

Would this new Clueless attempt to cash in on 90s nostalgia and go full period piece, or update the story for the future? Has Cher's computerized closet become an app? Is Cher still a virgin who can't drive? Will any actor ever be as dreamy as young Paul Rudd?

This remake isn't the only new take on Clueless we have to look forward to and be skeptical of: the off-Broadway musical based on the movie starts previews in November.
