The Blue Neighbourhood singer joins a star-studded cast for the 2018 film.

Move over, Harry Styles. There's a new heartthrob musician making the jump to film. Troye Sivan has just joined the cast of Joel Edgerton's Boy Erased, a "coming-of-age and "coming-out drama" based on a memoir about gay conversion therapy.

In the original book, Garrard Conley's Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith, and Family, Conley describes the situation he faced after being outed in his freshman year of college in Arkansas. In the film, Lucas Hedges, the breakout star of Manchester By The Sea, will play the title role.

Sivan joins an already start-studded cast that includes Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman as Hedges' parents; Quebecois director Xavier Dolan, who'll be acting this time around; Cherry Jones; and Michael "Flea" Balzary from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It's not the first time the Blue Neighbourhood singer has stepped in front of the camera, either. Before he began his music career, Sivan starred in the South African film series Spud. The movie isn't set to debut until next year but with a packed cast of LGBTQ talent already announced, we have a feeling this will be one of the most anticipated movies of 2018.
