What Happens When You Bring Game of Thrones' Melisandre to a Baby Shower?

"Clutch your child close to your breast woman, for the night is dark and full of terrors.”

Game of Thrones' Carice van Houten stayed true to her character of Melisandre during a sketch on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Houten's character is known for her foreboding warnings and incessant talk about the "Lord of Light," and she delivered all of that and more during the skit.

In the short sketch, Melisandre sits at a baby shower, offering motherly advice to a couple expecting a child. "Clutch your child close to your breast woman," Melisandre said. "For the night is dark and full of terrors."

In response to Melisandre's statement, Meyers pulls her into another room and tries to reason with her. "You're always saying you don't have any female friends, and this is why," Meyers said. "Maybe stop telling people the night is dark of full of terrors."

"The night is dark and full of terrors," Melisandre responded. "Everyone knows that."

When party members begin to talk about their own experiences giving birth, Melisandre recounts the time she gave birth to a shadow demon.

"I gave birth once," Melisandre said. "A shadow demon. I will never forget how it emerged from my womanhood: its claw-like hands grabbed onto my ankles so that it could propel itself into the night air."
