Getting the first female president of the United States? Looks like Megan Rapinoe has a plan for that.

On Friday the sports star announced her endorsement of Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren in the 2020 presidential race. Rapinoe, who was recently named Sport's Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year, posted a video to social media of her call to Warren announcing the endorsement.

"I just don't think we can get to a better place by walking this moderate line," the athlete said, going on to say she thought Warren's campaign was "amazing." In a caption, Rapinoe wrote "I truly believe the best things in life are a result of being bold and being real. This extends to every part of my life and nothing feels more relevant and real than this election."

"I'm proud to endorse Elizabeth Warren today for being bold, for being real, for listening to ALL of us, and for being prepared to navigate the unique challenges we face today as a country."

In the video, Senator Warren thanked Rapinoe. "We need you in this battle," she said. "We really believe in equity: we believe in racial equity, we believe in gender equity, we believe in everybody gets a chance in this country. We can build that kind of America!" The endorsement comes as Rapinoe has had a massive year, not only in her sport but also in speaking out against various injustices.

"You get out there and you both lead your team on your field, but you also help lead America off the field and that's really important," Warren said. "I think we got this Megan!"
