Netflix might be a joke, but health is serious.

RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Katya Zamolodchikova and Trixie Mattel announced in identical Instagram stories on Tuesday that their upcoming show as part of the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival has been cancelled. The pair’s statement said the show “must be postponed as Katya focuses on her health and recovery following a medical procedure.”

It continued, “Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding. Please hold on to your tickets — a reschedule date should be announced shortly.”

Katya shared a health update on social media on April 29 by taking a selfie from a hospital bed, showing the camera a thumbs up while wearing a nasogastric tube. She wrote, “Girl, I’m in body jail,” in a caption accompanying the photo, as well as the hashtag #hellonearth.

About an hour later, she shared a second update, “Everyone gets sick. (Almost) everybody gets old. And every one dies,” which many fans said bore a striking resemblance to the Buddhist principles The Five Remembrances.

The Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival is running in Los Angeles from May 4 through May 10 and features acts from several LGBTQ+ funny people, including Wanda Sykes, Alok and Bob the Drag Queen, but also features several comedians who are known for anti-LGBTQ+ humor, including Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K., who performed a set at the festival on Tuesday.

While Katya cancelled her Netflix show on May 9, she is currently still scheduled to go on the “One Night in Katya” tour. Per her Instagram, that tour begins next week in Salt Lake City and makes stops in Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio.
