Every day we get closer to a season of Bi Island USA, I can feel it. Apparently, Love Island fans and sapphic internet sleuths can feel it, too, because after a week of speculation on TikTok about bombshell Amora Cacheé’s sexuality, she has come out to clear the air on some false internet rumors about her motivations for appearing on the show.
“Guys, I am bi, it was never a secret,” she said while answering a question during a TikTok Live on July 17.
After rumors began circulating online that Cacheé was actually a lesbian hiding her sexuality to “infiltrate” the villa, the 21-year-old said she wanted to put the speculation to rest. “I have to clear this up. I did not infiltrate the villa as a lesbian,” she continued. “I’m bi, y’all, and I actually said it multiple times on the show, like, it was just never aired. Literally.”
Cacheé came in as a Casa Amor bombshell during the recently concluded eight season of Love Island USA and had a contentious connection with Sincere Rhea, who was the epicenter of much of the drama that took place this outing. In one of the most explosive episodes of the season, islanders watched clips of Rhea telling Cacheé if he had more time with her in Casa Amor, he would have picked her over his long-term connection with his original pairing, Melanie Moreno.
During the episode, Cacheé said that Rhea downplayed their connection after returning to the villa from Casa Amor because he did not expect America to vote her back in after he chose Moreno. In addition to mentions of her bisexuality, Cacheé said producers also cut scenes in which she purportedly pursued connections with other men in the villa.
Queer fans have been chomping at the bit to include more LGBTQ+ contestants in the villa — and for the show to logistically make more opportunities for queer islanders to connect. Host Ariana Madix, who is famously bisexual herself, even told Cosmopolitan that she was “dying for more queer representation on the show.”
Though there have been queer islanders over the years, such as Love Island USA season 7’s Chelley Bissainthe, there have only been a few instances in which queer islanders actually coupled up, like season 5’s Johnnie Garcia and Kassy Castillo.
Perhaps Love Island USA season 9 will finally give queer audiences the bisexual chaos we’re looking for.
