Zane Phillips: Drag Race's Discord Addams is 'iconic'

The Comeback actor dishes on his TV appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race alongside boyfriend Froy Gutierrez.

Zane Phillips is ready for world domination.

The handsome actor is known for his notable roles in queer projects such as Fire Island and Mid-Century Modern, but he's kept himself busy with some sexy recent guest spots on Loot, The Comeback, and RuPaul's Drag Race.

In fact, Phillips went viral for manspreading and rocking short shorts as a fictional contestant on the "Snatch Game of Love Island" challenge during his Drag Race appearance this season. The hunk was even joined by his gorgeous boyfriend Froy Gutierrez as they looked for the drag partner of their dreams in the faux dating game (a reinterpretation of the reality show's usual celebrity impersonation Snatch Game).

"Wasn't it fun?! It was so confusing, but the girls did so well. They were making us laugh the entire time! It was a strong Snatch Game. I was really proud to be a part of it," Phillips tells Out.

Phillips had a blast interacting with all of the queens as they cosplayed a wide range of celebrity impersonations, including Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, Lizzo, and more.

However, Phillips agrees with the fans that Discord Addams's portrayal of the Pope was absolutely hilarious and a legendary character to bring to the main stage of RuPaul's Drag Race.

"There were five girls who could round out the top three. The way I can still do the [Pope] voice! The way were doing [the hand movements] all year. It's iconic! You're iconic, Discord. Sweet thing. They're all so amazing. I had such a blast."

Although 2026 is off to a solid start for Phillips, he's certainly manifesting more dynamic roles in the future. With many queer shows already getting the axe this year, the handsome star is hoping to secure exciting gigs that fans will enjoy.

"It's been nice! I've been really lucky. This has not been an easy couple of years for many people. Every time I get to be on set, I'm very grateful."

The final season of The Comeback, in which Phillips appears as Dean alongside star Lisa Kudrow, is streaming now on HBO Max. To see the full interview with Zane Phillips from the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, check out the video at the top of the page.
