Congratulations to the Red, White & Royal Blue team!
Amazon Prime Video's beloved gay rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue was just nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie, and while we thought no one could be more excited than we are, the team behind the movie just might take the cake.
Casey McQuiston, who wrote the original novel the film is based on, wrote passionately about the nomination on their Instagram.
"Interrupting my regularly scheduled PAIRING programming because the RWRB movie was just nominated for an EMMY AWARD," they wrote, before congratulating the cast and crew of the movie. "And of course at a moment like this, I'm always thinking of the readers who championed this story from day one. All of these bracelets were personally given to me by readers at events or signings, and I keep them by my desk for good luck. I'm feeling quite lucky today."
Taylor Zakhar-Perez, one of the film's lead stars who plays the son of the U.S. President, shared the exciting news on his Instagram, writing, "Well this is some rather delightful news" and saying his heart is "full."
Other actors, including co-lead Nicholas Galiztine (who played Prince Henry in the film) and Uma Thurman (who plays the U.S. President) also posted Instagram stories celebrating the event.
The film's director and co-writer Matthew López wrote on his Instagram, "I'm very proud of our film and the journey it's taken through the world," López said. "And proud of all the remarkable people who gave their talents to making it."
Aneesh Sheth, who played Secret Service agent Amy in the film, said she had been taking time away from social media, but came back just to post about this. She thanked the team "for having me be a part of this beautiful, history making movie! And immense gratitude to @televisionacad for this nomination!! I'm so incredibly proud of all of us!!! Looks lille more cake is in our future…"
Clifton Collins, Jr., who plays the husband of the President, posted his congratulations as well.
"A very special thank you to @matthewmichaellopez who wonderfully collaborated and wrote one of my most compassionate, understanding roles I've ever had the opportunity to play," he wrote. "Never have I received so many beautiful heartwarming DM's from parents whose children were inspired and encouraged to lovingly come out."
