Aquaman Director Zack Snyder Says He'd Hire Amber Heard Again Despite Controversy

Director Zack Snyder came to Amber Heard’s defense in a new interview where he spilled the tea about working with the controversial actress.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder stuck up for Heard, who he has worked with multiple times. The 37-year-old bisexual actress played Mera in 2017's Justice League, Aquaman, and again in 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Since then, public opinion of the once-popular actress has soured due to her massive legal battle with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Throughout the public trial, Depp’s allegedly abusive behavior during their marriage was often overlooked by the media in favor of focusing on Heard's supposed lies.

In the 2022 trial, Heard alleged that Depp was physically abusive, but in the end, the jury sided with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and found Heard guilty of defamation.

But despite the intense media scrutiny and public backlash Heard faced in the wake of the trial, Snyder hasn’t let that deter him from wanting to work with her again.

“I just don’t get it,” Snyder told THR. “If other people don’t like her, I don’t know what to say. I would work with her in a second.”

Although Snyder isn’t the director this time, Heard is starring in the upcoming Aquaman sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, where she will star alongside Jason Momoa, Ben Affleck, Patrick Wilson, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom premieres in theaters on December 22, 2023.
