A seasoned pageant queen and RuPaul's Drag Race season eight alum, Lopez (Fabian Rodriguez out of drag) took part in this year's Mr. Continental pageant over the long Labor Day weekend and made it all the way to the end of the competition where he placed first-runner up!
While Lopez didn't end up taking home the final Mr. Continental title (competitor Prince Travi won that honor), Lopez did end up slaying one of the more competitive parts of the pageant: the swimsuit category! (We are looking, respectfully.)
"The goal was always to win Mr. Continental and to inspire those who like me are artists and entertainers that don't want to be confined to one form of art," Lopez wrote in a statement posted on Instagram after the competition this past weekend. "After last night's amazing competition and placing 1st runner up, I realized that I didn't have to win to inspire those people, I just had to show up and OH I DID!! I am extremely humbled at the level of support and love from my family, friends, the Continental family and audience have shown me. I will be forever grateful for this experience. It was very personal for me and I will hold it dear to my heart."
Lopez then went on to thank Mr. Continental's organizers, judges, and fellow competitors for making the experience an unforgettable one, especially considering all that the craziness that is still going on in the world, saying "we did this and we are STILL in a middle of a pandemic?!?! You should be very proud of the job we did. WE DID THE THING!!"
"And of course to Prince Travi, congratulations Mr. Continental. You are amazing and should be very proud of a job well done," Lopez then concluded in his Insta post. "And don't ever forget I beat you in swimwear!! Love yah my friend!"
Humble and hot?!? We're absolutely swooning for Naysha!!
