Wendy Williams Is Being Asked to Join ‘Real Housewives’ Sources Say

Could you imagine?

Countess Luann, how you doin'?

According to a recent episode of the Straight Shuter podcast, host Rob Shuter alleges that when it comes to Bravo's Real Housewives of New York, "Andy wants Wendy and is doing whatever it takes to get her to sign up, even if only for one season."

Apparently, sources tell Shuter that "the franchise is looking for some stunt casting to make the show fresh and exciting." In previous iterations of the franchise, when celebrities join the cast, as in the case of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the success of the series has sky-rocketed. Especially following Williams' split from longtime husband Kevin Hunter, now would be a hot moment for Williams to enter Bravolebrity status.

"How much longer can a show set in New York have no black women as one of its lead characters," the source adds.

[Journalistic Disclosure: I don't know anything about Real Housewives, nor have I ever watched an episode of the show, in any of its franchises or spinoffs. I also really don't know why Wendy Williams is famous, and have also never watched her show, outside the iconic clip of her falling down while dressed as the statue of liberty.]

But don't get too quick to get excited about this, internet.Page Six reports that these rumors are false.

"There's absolutely no way Wendy would ever join the Housewives franchise," another source said. While they are confident the show would be infinitely more successful, and that she would likely become the highest paid cast member on the show, the source said, "It's beneath her."

What is above or "below" Wendy Williams is beyond me, and whether either of these sources are reputable is a mystery -- but one thing is certain. This would break TV. Could you IMAGINE? (I personally can't because I've never seen the show, but I'm sure *you* could.)
