For Heated Rivalry fans who are dying to get back to the cottage, director Jacob Tierney has something to hold you over until season 2 comes out next year.
This fall, Tierney is set to release a behind-the-scenes book about the first season of Heated Rivalry, a show that follows two closeted hockey stars, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, who spend years hooking up in secret before eventually falling in love.
Tiereny revealed the cover art for the upcoming book I’ll Believe in Anything in People, and talked about how making the hugely popular hockey romance was a group effort.
“I've always believed creating a show is a collaborative experience, and that getting it from script to screen means it evolves through every conversation and discovery along the way,” Tierney said.
I’ll Believe in Anything is a collection of annotated scripts from season 1, along with a foreword by Heated Rivalry author Rachel Reid, and promises to answer some of fans’ most burning questions about the series.
“With this book, the intention was to invite everyone who loves the show to sit beside me and the team, not just to see what we made, but to understand why we made it,” Tierney said.
The book’s official synopsis says it will explain how Tierney and his producing partner Brendan Brady balanced telling Ilya and Shane’s story with Kip and Scott’s love story, how they came up with that viral Olympic fleece jacket, and how they were able to “obliterate the long-held misconception that queer love stories have limited appeal.”
And, of course, how they choreographed those now-infamous erotic gay sex scenes the audience fell in love with. Tierney also said he wants I’ll Believe in Anything to feel like an "extension" of the show.
“I wanted it to feel personal, like a natural extension of the story audiences connected with from the very beginning,” he said.
I'll Believe in Anything will be published on Oct. 13 and is available now for preorder, wherever books are sold. This serves as the perfect buffer before season 2 of Heated Rivalry drops in April 2027.
