Connor Storrie is making big moves in Hollywood, according to Molly Gordon, the director and writer of one of the actor's first big films following his Heated Rivalry success.
While promoting her acting role in the new film The Sheep Detectives, in which a flock of sheep come together to solve a murder mystery in a small village, Gordon (Booksmart, Shiva Baby) gushed about Storrie's work in her upcoming production Peaked.
The comedy film is based on a very a chaotic high school reunion that includes a legendary cast that includes Laura Dern, Dua Lipa, Gabby Windey, Simone Ashley, and more.
Although fans are still swooning over Storrie's iconic portrayal of Ilya Rozanov in the hit Crave/HBO Max romance, the talented actor is apparently just as good as tackling comedy on the big screen.
"We just wrapped a week ago! Connor is a f—king genius and I'm so lucky that he's in the movie. The whole cast was amazing. I just feel lucky they want to be a part of the film. I'm just doing what I can for the [LGBTQ+] community! My favorite community likes me! They will drag you or they will lift you up," Gordon tells Out.
Although Peaked doesn't have a release date as of now, Gordon is keeping herself booked and busy with the major motion picture The Sheep Detectives, which also stars major Hollywood names like Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, and more.
The story of a heartbroken group of sheep banding together in the wake of a tragedy hits the right note for the current moment, particularly for queer people, says Gordon.
"We need more heartwarming experiences! It's literally giving chosen family. It's giving closer to your friends than your family sometimes. We're all not so different. Life is full of ups and downs. It's about the ride!"
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has built a very passionate gay fanbase over the years, so she's thrilled that she gets to star in a new film that's all about acceptance.
"One of the big themes of the movie is inclusivity! I love digging down on those themes. They're important to me. I've been so lucky to have gotten these good jobs. The moments that are particularly satisfying to me are when we're working together for a common goal. I hope I never stop doing it," Louis-Dreyfus tells Out.
Without revealing too much in The Sheep Detectives, Nicholas Braun teases one particular character arc that will deeply impact any queer viewers who have felt isolated at any point of their lives.
"The winter lamb is going to really resonate with people. He's struggling. Nobody believes in him. He's all alone. Sometimes it just takes one person to let you in. It's a relatable moment and I love that," Braun says.
The Sheep Detectives premieres Friday in theaters. To see the full interview with Molly Gordon, check out the video at the top of the page.
