Welcome to another Monday with the Out Newsletter!
Do you know what movie is a genuine camp classic? Cats (2019).
I rewatched the movie this weekend for probably the twentieth time, and I’ve got to say, it really commits to the bit and goes 110% in every single scene! All the actors and dancers give their all; they ARE cats. But the uncanny digital fur technology, dancing cockroaches, and addition of some bad jokes makes it into a truly unique and bizarre film to behold.
I’d suggest giving it a rewatch, it truly is a movie experience like no other.
What a great week it was for Gay Pop! Other than JoJo Siwa releasing a new song for a new era, there were great new Gay Pop releases from artists who have been making music in the genre for a while, like Kehlani, Zolita, and Chappel Roan.
If you want to check out some more great Gay Pop from some of the best queer artists today, check out these recaps of some of my favorite queer songs from the last few years! 2023 was an especially epic year in the genre!

Man Crush Monday
We love Orville Peck, and now that he’s entering a new era with a new mask, we love him even more! His new duet with country legend Willie Nelson, has us cracking up, cheering, and singing along.
Did you know that “Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly Fond of Each Other” was originally written in 1981 by Latin country musician Ned Sublette, and this is the second time Willie Nelson has recorded it. When he first did in 2006, it was the first LGBTQ+ themed mainstream country song by a major artist.
What We're Watching
This week is all about movies for me! I’ll be seeing previews and screenings of several queer movies, including The People’s Joker, Will & Harper, and Challengers! So be on the lookout for reviews of those movies in the coming weeks and months!
I’m also super, super stoked to see the first trailer for MaXXXine!!! I’m obsessed with both X and Pearl and I cannot wait to see this third installment in the trilogy! Mia Goth hive rise up!
