Welcome to another Monday, Out readers.
In case you missed the news, this week we are all mourning the passing of beloved RuPaul's Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente, whose real name was Bianca Castro.
Caliente was a trans woman drag queen who starred in season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race, was a judge on Drag Race Philippines, and appeared in the TV show Pose.
Last week, Out reported that Castro had "undergone the loss of most of her right leg," and was withdrawing from "any public engagements for the foreseeable future."
Unfortunately, over the weekend, the news got worse, and Castro's family announced that she had passed away.
"A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity," her family wrote on her Instagram page. "She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world."
Of course, other members of the drag community have poured out love for Castro in posts mourning her passing.
"Jiggly was so much person in one little body. She lived her life exactly how she wanted to— never taking a moment of it for granted. She always reminded me to be grateful for every little gift our blessed lives give us," wrote Jinkx Monsoon.
"It's a rare and powerful thing to watch someone come into this world, embrace their true self, and leave behind a legacy that changes hearts and history. You did just that, with your fearless spirit, magnetic charm, sharp humor, radiant beauty, and boundless charisma," Castro's Pose castmate Hailie Sahar wrote.
