When Lisa Yang and Wek Hernandez got married recently they knew they wanted to show that nothing is stronger than two women in love with each other. Instead of tying two pieces of rope together, they decided to go Extra Gay and tandem deadlift over 250 lbs in the middle of their nuptuals. This is lesbian behavior.
In a photo posted to Instagram, the two beautiful brides stood side-by side on a rug in stunning white gowns as their wedding parties and guests watched on. Look at their arms! Look at their shoulders! This is the most lesbian thing I've seen since Kristen Stewart cooked Totinos.
Not content with just one lift, the couple decided to show off by lifting the 253-pound weights three times, which is actually easy for them, as they each usually lift that much by themselves.
The brides told Women's Health that they wanted something that really showed who they are as a couple. "We thought about the usual candle lighting, tree planting, sand pouring, and none of those things represented Wek and I," Yang said. But weightlifting does. They train together at least three days a week and spend a lot of time at the gym.
"We lift with our local team in Brooklyn," Hernandez added. "They're family to us and the whole weightlifting team was at our wedding."
"It was meant to not only be a symbol of unity, but also a statement," Hernandez said. "Individually we are strong, capable women, but together we are stronger." What a perfect way to celebrate their love.
"I was just so happy and in the moment!" Hernadez said. "I mean, we were deadlifting in Prospect Park in wedding gowns pressing our love. It was awesome!"
