Before they even started dating one another, newlyweds Marc Malkin, 44, and Fabian Quezada-Malkin, 29, bonded over Dolly Parton and fried chicken. Considering The Queen of Country hails from Tennessee, a soul food capital, the pairing makes sense.

Rewind a handful of years, and Marc and Fabian arrived separately at the Hollywood Bowl, eager for "Jolene," "9-5," and a glimpse of one of the best blond mops to ever grace the stage.

The gents had met before out with their friends, but when Fabian saw the back of Marc's head at the concert, he couldn't resist sending a quick text.

Marc's phone lit up. "Look behind you." Marc turned and there was Fabian sitting a few rows back. Marc -- who is an excellent chicken fryer as well as a Senior Editor/Writer at E! -- had brought some of the greasy-good grub to the concert. Proving chivalry wasn't dead, Marc offered some to Fabian, who politely turned down the thigh.

Little did they know, fried chicken would become one of Fabian's favorite things that Marc cooks.

Fast forward to August 2011, when Marc and Fabian reconnected post-concert over a dinner with friends. After a decent bit of flirting and texting, Marc asked Fabian if he wanted to come back to his place.

That night was quickly followed by a date to Go Burger. "We hadn't told our friends yet that we started seeing each other," Fabian explained. "Who did we run into at dinner? Our friends. The secret was out." Fate's always on our side, isn't it?

The duo then dated for two years before Marc proposed.

"It was a Monday night in July," explained Fabian. "We were on the couch waiting for a pizza to be delivered. We had been talking about marriage and Marc decided right there and then to pop the question."

According to Fabian, the marriage convo went something like this:

Marc: Let's get married. Let's do it.
Fabian: Are you serious? Are you joking?
Marc: I wouldn't kid about something like this.
Fabian: You have to get down on one knee.

[Marc got down on one knee.]

Marc: Fabian, will you marry me?
Fabian: Yes.

On January 3, 2014, Marc and Fabian tied the knot at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. There were four rings present. Marc had a thin platinum engagement band, and Fabian, a thin yellow gold band. During the ceremony, Marc added a thicker yellow gold band and Fabian added a thicker platinum band. See what they did there?

Both men wore suits from Topman. Marc's was blue; Fabian's was maroon/burgundy. Fabian sported a black velvet skinny tie also from Topman, while Marc went with a black velvet bow tie (bow ties are his signature) from Ralph Lauren. Marc walked in black lace up loafers from Hugo Boss, Fabian had on Paul Smith. Each wore white TopMan shirts and white rose boutonnieres from Moe's Flowers on Melrose Avenue. The couple mastered the perfect balance between complementing and matching.

The courthouse was small and could only fit 25 guests. The couple had planned the marriage pretty quickly, so mostly friends and a couple of Marc's cousins attended--Fabian's from Mexico and Marc's from New York--and there wasn't enough time to fly in the whole crew.

Nevertheless, the afternoon wasn't short of good food and drink. "We had a private lunch at Escuela Taqueria on Beverly Boulevard following the ceremony," said Fabian. Eats included: fresh guacamole, salsa and chips, a variety of tacos -- chicken, roasted poblano chile with local jack cheese, shrimp and pork -- and of course, something fried.

Only this time it was churros.
