Now is the time to watch Industry on HBO, it's about to get gayer

Opinion: Not enough people are talking about Industry for my liking and it's not getting the awards recognition it deserves!

Industry, HBO Max's sleeper hit, is coming back for a fourth season, and I have been singing its praises since season one. The show released a teaser trailer for the upcoming season, featuring newcomers like Kal Penn (who recently revealed he's queer), Toheeb Jimoh (from Ted Lasso), and Kiernan Shipka. The show has had some excitingly queer moments between characters throughout the series, but it seems things may be heating up in the next season. If you haven't started watching it already, I can't suggest it enough.

For the uninitiated, Industry is a show about a group of people who work at a British investment bank. The first season followed a group of characters navigating the fast-paced world of finance as interns who had to prove themselves worthy of a full-time position at the company. We mainly follow Harper Stern (Myha'la), but the show does a great job of developing story arcs for all the essential characters. And the cast is stacked with incredible actors — Marisa Abela, Ken Leung, David Jonsson, Harry Lawtey, Sagar Radia, and one of the most recent additions to the recurring cast: Kit Harington.

As we see, the stress of the job gets to all of them in different ways — some drink, some do drugs, and some decompress with sex. And in this show, there is no shortage of queer encounters — I promise, there's something for the girls and the gays. The second and third seasons are electrifying. I don't want to spoil too much about the show. But what I can say without giving a lot away is that audiences watch as the characters who were hired on get their hands dirty with their new positions at the prestigious bank or elsewhere (for those who didn't make the cut) and climb on top of one another to ascend in their positions, but also most importantly, bring in the most money possible.

This upcoming season is set to be one of their most exhilarating yet, thanks to the new additions and where things left off last season. Unfortunately, we are losing Lawtey, who said he would not be returning to focus on other projects, but there are so many unanswered questions that audiences are waiting with bated breath to find out the answers to. We are also excited to watch them make the show queer again, and it seems our prayers are being answered in this new season with a quick clip of Harrington embracing a man, Penn's inclusion in this season (hopefully he plays a gay character), and Harper and Yasmin's psychosexual relationship that has had its peaks and valleys over the last three seasons.

If you're looking for an intoxicating new show to watch during the holidays that you can finish before the new season comes out on January 11, Industry should be that show.
