Red Bull Music to Bring Massive Ballroom Experience to Atlanta

The event will be one of the largest of its kind in Atlanta.

Red Bull Music is shining a light on Atlanta's underground ballroom scene. Next month, they're hosting the ATL is Burning Ball. Part ball, part dance party, it will be one of the largest events of its kind in Atlanta, whose ballroom scene is one of the largest and most active in the country.

Ballroom icons and novices alike will walk in more than 10 categories. Made possible by local collectives, Morph and Southern Fried Queer Pride, the event will be hosted by Precious Ebony. It will feature performances by Leikeli47, MikeQ, Cakes da Killa, Byrell the Great, Leonce, Leiomy Maldonado, Dashaun Wesley and Koppi Mizrahi.

"Ballroom culture has always been important to me, since I first learned about it as a young high school kid," says Leonce of Morph, a black owned, multi-cultural queer experience/platform crafted by artists, for artists. "To be involved with planning a ball at this scale with all of the people involved and coming is something I've only dreamed of until this year. I felt like Atlanta is the perfect place for us to make this happen because our ballroom scene is so iconic already, and this event is celebrating all the people who have been a part of it."

"I honestly can't wait to see everyone together in the space," says Southern Fried Queer Pride. "Balls here in Atlanta are spread out throughout the year, and sometimes hard to hear about. I'm excited for this event to bring all the scenes together - the ballroom scene, the house heads, the club kids, the artsy queers. It'll be the first of, hopefully many Atlanta Is Burning Balls."

Red Bull Music Presents: ATL is Burning Ball will take place Friday, November 9 at Georgia Freight Depot. Find tickets and more info here.
