Batwoman has officially been canceled.

After just three seasons, the DC Arrowverse show, which introduced the world to lesbian superhero Ryan Wilder (played by bisexual actress Javicia Leslie) after she took over the mantle from fellow out heroine Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), was given the axe by its network, The CW.

Caroline Dries, the series' showrunner, shared the sad news on Twitter, to the devastation of many of show's most loyal fans.

"Just got the sad news that Batwoman will not be seeing an S4," Dries wrote in her Twitter statement. "I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast, and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you."
