Seven hells! Naomi Watts has signed on to star in HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel in a lead role. The prequel, conceptualized by writer Jane Goldman and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, takes place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones at the end of Westeros' Age of Heroes. Fans of the show know that it was during this time that the undead White Walkers first invaded, leading to the building of the Wall and the formation of the Night's Watch.
Watt's character is being kept secret, but Deadline reports that "she will play a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret." Perhaps she's an ancestor of one of our beloved -- or hated -- Game of Thrones characters. Naomi Lannister has a certain ring to it.

On a miserably rainy day in New York City, the W Hotel in Union Square was the perfect reprieve from the dreariness and gray skies.
