Following the airing of a recent episode of the Disney Channel's Andi Mack, where one of the main characters has started questioning his sexuality and even came out to one of his friends, Kenya has issued a countrywide ban of the show, disallowing it from being aired.
"Children must be given correct information that family is a union between people of opposite gender," tweeted Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of Kenya's Film Classification Board, which instituted the ban on the show. He went further on Facebook: "Gay Content Will Not Air in Kenya... PERIOD!," he wrote. "When it comes to protecting children from bad content we are resolute and unapologetic."
Of course, Mutua's alarmism toward anything gay reaches far beyond television shows. When a UK-based photographer captured a pair of male lions in an apparent sexual position, Mutua blamed "demonic spirits," said the lions probably learned the bad behavior from observing humans doing similar things, and said the "crazy gay animals" should be isolated and studied.

The episode of Andi Mack, presented with its young audience in mind, found Cyrus opening up to his friend Buffy, where she replied: "You're no different," after his personal reveal. News of Cyrus' character development predictably angered groups like One Million Moms, who announced a boycott of the show.
After Mutua's social media tirade, Mulitchoice, the South African company that distributes Disney programming, confirmed that Andi Mack wasn't scheduled to appear on Kenyan channels. According to Variety, it was unclear if this was in response to Mutua's outcry or a precautionary measure to avoid dealing with Kenyan's strict censors in the first place.
