Cyrus will star alongside Elaine May and Allen, who will also write and direct the series.

After having sufficiently bludgeoned and buried her Hannah Montana image, Miley Cyrus is going back to television. And this time it ain't Disney.

The 23-year-old singer will star with Woody Allen and Elaine May in Allen's new series for Amazon Prime, a comedy set in the 1960s.

Not much is known about the series, except that it will be six half-hour episodes, but Cyrus was too happy to keep the news to herself and penned this eloquent Instagram post to announce her casting coup:

Watch out, 1960s--you survived social upheaval, multiple assassinations and Woodstock, but can you survive Miley?

Well, you had a good run.

Though, honestly, I'm going to call a Supporting Actress Golden Globe for Ms. Cyrus just because Woody's got a great track record with snatching his SA's trophies. Looking at you, Dianne Wiest.

Elsewhere, Allen's son and former MSNBC anchor Ronan Farrow was less "stoked":
