“You think that you’ve done great but you’re still far away.”
Adam Rippon has quickly become a fan favorite during these Winter Olympic Games. The out and vocal figure skater helped secure a bronze medal in the team competition for Team USA and has been in headlines for his skating, his funny interview responses, and his refusal to meet with Mike Pence ahead of the Games.

Rippon is taking the utmost advantage of his first Olympics and not wasting a moment, living out the dream he's had since he was barely younger than some of team USA's other skaters. An old interview of a 13-year-old Rippon talks with the rising star about the journey ahead of him. "When you see all these things about other people who have won at the Olympics, you think that you've done great but you're still far away," he said, after winning a junior tournament in Luxembourg and visiting the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Rippon has expressed his disappointment in the Olympics condom offerings, his goal to make Reese Witherspoon proud, and how he feels about his haters and he still has the men's single competition ahead of him this week. Who knows what amazing soundbites await? Watch a young Rippon, below.
