Andy Warhol remains one of the most influential visual artists and pop culture tastemakers in history. After a flourishing career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol went on to paint, create films, write, produce records, and assemble some of the most wildly cosmpolitan conglomerates of celebrity ever seen. His work is especially notable for its highly homoerotic tones, and especially important because of the widespread reach it had to fans and critics - he counted both Hollywood celebrities and aristocrats as well as New York underground gay icons as some of his closest personal friends.
