Power 50: Tammy Baldwin

The first openly gay U.S. senator (and first woman senator from Wisconsin) is one of the most progressive legislators we have, based on voting record. She has sponsored bills to protect the environment, increase the use of technology in education, and improve Medicare. However, her legislation most likely to pass the GOP-controlled Senate is her resolution to designate January as National Blood Donor Month.
