'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Recasts Major Character for Final Season

Such a Becky move.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend just pulled a major Becky/Roseanne move and recast one of their original characters.

You may remember Santino Fontana as Greg Serrano in the musical comedy, one of Rebecca Bunch's (Rachel Bloom) first friends in West Covina, California. The two had a hot and heavy on-again, off-again love triangle with Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). But after a series of crazy shenanigans from the crazy ex herself, Greg decided to distance himself and go to Emory University in Atlanta.

Luckily for fans, Greg will return to West Covina in the fourth and final season. But unfortunately, his part has been given to another. Skylar Astin, whose credits include Pitch Perfect and the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening, is taking over for Fontana, who voiced Hans in Frozen.

Knowing the show's self-aware dark comedy, this casting change is sure to come up as a punchline at some point in the new season.

"We don't want to spoil it too much," said Bloom at the TCA press tour. "It will be a great statement on how our perception of people changes. Greg is a barometer of how people's perceptions changes. It'll have been two years since Rebecca's seen him."

The fourth and final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres October 12 on the CW. Now let's fondly remember Fontana as Greg with this classic:
