Stan-up comedian Hannah Gadsby, whose Netflix special Nanette went viral this summer, might seem like a prime candidate to host an episode of Saturday Night Live. But during a conversation with Monica Lewinsky at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit, Gadsby explained that she probably won't be making a visit to studio 8H anytime soon.
Lewinsky: Would you host Saturday Night Live if you were asked?
Gadsby: Yeah, it's not a real question, because I won't be asked.
Lewinsky: Why do you think you wouldn't be asked?
Gadsby: I am not a friend of them. They're not so fond of my work.
Lewinsky: Really?
Gadsby: Yeah, it's fine. We'll all cope. Plus I think I'm a bit slow for live TV.
Gadsby's buzzy appearance at the Emmys last month proved that she's more than quick enough for live TV, so what could the real beef be between the comedian and the long-running sketch show? We may never know.
