According to Forbes, Spears' managers Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber met with Jerry Mitchell to discuss turning the princess of pop's repertoire into a Broadway-worthy production. Mitchell has found success in the past as the director of Get On Your Feet!, which set the real life story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan to Gloria's iconic music.

"We're telling a true story about real people, so authenticity is really important to me," Mitchell said in an interview before Get On Your Feet! premiered on Broadway. But that won't be the case if a Britney musical comes to fruition. "It would NOT be autobiographical," he said.
Instead, Spears' production would be in the same vein as Mamma Mia!, which used the famous songs of ABBA to propel a fictional story. The idea is still in its very early stages with no timeline announced.
