“To me it’s more important to be responsible with my thoughts and actions and check myself and grow”

As if Twitter in 2017 wasn't already descending into cesspool territory, now M.I.A. is planning to leave the platform, or at least enter a "Twitter deep sleep."

Yesterday the rapper started getting profound on the site, saying it was a miracle she got out of her old life and into making music, then made a list of types of "health," putting mental health on top.

Just a few hours ago she got back behind her keyboard to get real, talking about mental disorders. M.I.A. touched on her personal struggles with dyslexia, said that many people in Trump's team display signs of mental disorders and called out Twitter for only removing accounts for hate speech, thus providing a platform for people with disorders without helping to fund research for treatments and cures.

At the end of her thought process, the rapper said she'd be deleting her account in 24 hours, later downgrading her deactivation to a "deep sleep."

Come the deep sleep or not, M.I.A. touched on the important topic that, for all its greatness, the Internet can still be a dangerous, triggering and enabling place.
