“Beam me up, Scotty!”

Since Star Trek made its NBC debut on Sept. 8, 1966, the sci-fi odyssey has touched millions of lives. Thursday marks the show's 50th anniversary, and it deserves a celebration like none have been done before. Whether you want to celebrate in a low-key way or go all out, here are some ideas to start you off.

1. Use Facebook's New Trekkie reactions

Facebook has replaced its reaction emojis with Star Trek-related symbols today. Love a post using the Vulcan salute, use Captain Kirk to laugh, be impressed using Spock, express sadness with Geordi, and use a Klingon to say how angry you are.

2. Watch Chris Pine's Interview on Good Morning America

This tawny-haired heartthrob was a guest on ABC's Good Morning America in August to promote Star Trek Beyond, the most recent installment of the Star Trek reboot films, where he plays the venerable Captain James T. Kirk aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. Watch Pine answer questions about the film and the cast below.

3. Rewatch your favorite episodes on Netflix

Netflix currently has every Star Trek television show available online, including the animated series. Today would be a perfect day to curl up on the couch and take a trip into deep space with Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, Commander Sisko, Captain Janeway, and Captain Archer.

4. Go through the Starfleet Academy Experience

The Intrepid Museum has an ongoing exhibit called the Starfleet Academy Experience. The interactive exhibit features holograms, projection mapping and other signature Star Trek technology. Go through 9 zones to experience what Starfleet cadets do and receive special training in fields like navigation, command, science, and language. At the end, you find out your specialty as a Starfleet Academy graduate. The exhibit runs till October 31, 2016. Buy tickets here!

5. Gear up for New York Comic Con

Though New York Comic Con is about a month away, today would be great for working on your Dr. "Bones" McCoy cosplay for the four-day event. Turn on your favorite episode or Star Trek movie and get sewing!
