They say there's a card for every occasion, and while that's true, not all greeting cards are created equal.
Now a modest Kickstarter campaign is working to fix the greeting card inclusion issue by making their own cards to commemorate milestone moments.
"Mark It Proud," the brainchild of graphic designer Daniel Malen and artist Mark Uhre, was conceived when Daniel married his husband, Aaron, and received numerous painfully generic "Mr. & Mr." wedding cards. Daniel realized there was a glaring vacancy when it came to LGBTQ greeting cards and enlisted Mark to help fill the void.
The Kickstarter campaign, which reached its initial goal of just under $2800 in only five days, already has art for weddings, birth announcements, coming out, birthdays, and even open relationship anniversaries. The original goal was set just to get the presses started so cards could be produced, now stretch goals include holiday cards and even more merchandise featuring the loveable illustrations.
With almost a month left of the campaign there's plenty of time to donate.
