Kit Harington Calls Out Hollywood for Sexism Toward Men
Remember the last time you were discriminated against for being an attractive white man? Well Kit Harington does.
In a recentIndiewire report, the Game of Thrones actor called attention to the discriminatory practices Hollywood employs when casting men.
"It's demeaning," Harrington said. "Yes, in some ways you could argue I've been employed for a look I have. But there's a sexism that happens towards men."
Harrington doesn't ignore the more obvious and rampant sexism towards women, but says he's also felt discriminated against: "At some points during photo shoots when I'm asked to strip down, I felt that."
It's hardly news that in Hollywood, one of the most superficial industries in the world, there are problems with superficial discrimination. But perhaps the best person to speak out against and combat them isn't the traditionally attractive, straight, white man who has personal trainers and dieticians keeping him so fit, ergo enabling the discrimination he hates.
