Harris tackles cliche after cliche in the acting equivalent of American Gladiators.
Neil Patrick Harris has been in show biz for a long time. Starting from his Doogie Howser, M.D. days, Harris has taken on a variety of roles in just about TV and film genre. So you'd think that he's pretty well versed in all the stock scenes and situations.
Well, Seth Meyers and his cohorts on Late Night decided to put NPH's acting chops to the test with The Actathalon, a gauntlet featuring some of the most famous acting tropes in recent history. There's the "Mirror of Introspection," the "Daddy Go Bye-Bye Door," and of course the "Junket Room," where Harris had to shill Connect 4: The Movie! (He plays Lead Red Circle).
Since awards and box office numbers are incomplete metrics for measuring acting ability, I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that Meyers's Actathalon is probably the best tool we have for evaluating an actor's skill at the craft. How does NPH fair? Check out the above clip to find out.
