Though The Force Awakens' Christmas opening date still seems to be light years away, J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm know how to tide fans over.

In their latest issue, Entertainment Weekly comes out lasers-blazing with images and backstories for a handful of major character from the upcoming film. Among them are Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and his much-discussed lightsaber, Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma and her chrome imperial armor, and Daisy Ridley's Rey saving everyone's favorite soccer ball-turned-droid BB-8 from a net.
