Winona Ryder to Go Back to the ‘80s in Netflix’s Supernatural Drama Series

Winona Ryder

Winona Forever!

Back in the '80s, Winona Ryder was the star of Heathers and Beetlejuice and her dark, gothy edge set her apart from the candy-colored Molly Ringwalds and Alyssa Milanos who would define the era.

A few decades later, Ryder, an intermittent figure in the public eye, has become the poster-girl for '80s nostalgia. It only makes sense that's she's returning to her heyday in Netflix's upcoming, yet-to-be-named supernatural drama series.

Staring alongside Manhattan's David Harbour, Ryder will play Joyce, the working-class single mother of a boy who vanishes into thin air in 1980s Montauk, Long Island.

According to Deadline, the show's plot will feature "an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl."

Harbour will play the town's exhausted chief of police tasked with investigating the disappearance. The show, formerly known as Montauk, comes to us from directors Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer of Wayward Pines fame.
