FIRST LOOK: Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange

From detective, to dragon, to galactic villain, to sorcerer.

Benedict Cumberbatch

After already embodying the world's greatest detective and a vengeful, fire-breathing dragon, Benedict Cumberbatch is preparing to portray a world-defending sorcerer.

This week's cover of EW give us our first look at Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, one of Marvel's greatest magic-users. Though he definitely has the look down, Cumberbatch admits that he's still perfecting the signature hand gestures and poses Strange uses when performing his magic.

"I'm still in the infancy of learning all that. It was like, okay, I've got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I'm thinking, there's going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I'm still working on that. We haven't played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It's like anything, you just have to experiment."

The film, which opens in November, also stars Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen. Read the EW article here.
