Jennifer Saunders Confirms Ab Fab Movie Release Date, Plot Details

That's right! Jennifer Saunders, Edina herself, has confirmed that Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie will be released on July 1, 2016 in the U.K.--no word yet as to the U.S. release date.

While the cast has been mum about many details, London's Evening Standard printed a brief synopsis of the film.

Apparently Edina and Patsy will become public enemy No. 1 after causing a "major incident" at a London fashion party.

Hounded by the paparazzi, the two besties abscond to the French Rivera and attempt to reinvent themselves.

The official synopsis reads: "Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamor, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London's trendiest hot-spots."

"Blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi."

"Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more."

Film has just wrapped after seven weeks of shooting in London and the South of France.

The gang's all back together. Obviously Saunders and Joanna Lumley will star, but Julia Sawalha (Saffy), Jane Horrocks (Bubble and Katy Grin), and June Whitfield (Eddie's mum) are all back as well. Rebel Wilson, Kate Moss, Jean Paul Gaultier, Joan Collins, Cara Delevingne, and Emma Bunton will be making cameos.
