Britney Spears' Blackout Turns Eight

Britney Spears' Blackout Turns Eight

It's Britney bitch

It's Blackout day, bitch.

Today eight years ago -- the day before Halloween -- Britney Spears released her seminal Blackout album.

Back in 2007, Britney was hitting up gas stations barefoot, hanging out with her "cousin" Allie Sims, and doing album cover photo shoots with esteemed photographer, Ellen Von Unwerth.

Talk about a cauldron for creative fruition.

It's eerie to think that almost a decade has gone by since this pop gem came out. It has since gained somewhat of a cult following for Britney's fearless audacity -- and for the sexy tunes, of course.

Even weirder, we've never realized until now that Britney's darkest "and-most-personal-yet" record shares its birthday with the scariest eve of them all -- Halloween's.

Produced by Nate "Danja" Hills, Blackout was a considered a critical masterpiece and earned Britney a number of her biggest hits yet: "Gimme More", "Piece of Me" -- which went on to win the Video of the Year Award at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and inspired the title of her current Vegas residency -- as well as "Break The Ice" and "Freakshow," which clearly inspired Ryan Murphy with American Horror Story's fourth season.

In honor of Britney's special day, let's revisit Gimme More -- uncut and unedited with a dark funeral:
