We revisit the "Sex and Madness in Serbia" photographer for a batch of new material.
"Freud compared personality to an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg above the water represents conscious awareness. The bulk of the iceberg below the water symbolizes the unconscious mind where all of the hidden desires, thoughts, and memories exist. It is there that the id resides." --Kendra Cherry at VeryWellMind.com
Serbian photographer Nikola Djukich writes that he has a "fascination with body, expression, inner being, and emotion - higher balance. Beauty fed with morbidity. Sarcasm. Religion. Spirituality shown by blasphemy. Overemphasized sexuality, exhibitionism. Sex as gender characteristic, weapon, pointed finger or perhaps, slap in the face. Stimulating decadence of the refined taste: portraits of hidden emotions glazed with kitsch, wrapped in shiny cellophane."
Note that many of these photos are self-portraits. Check out more of his work on his website, Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram.
