"This summer I lived in Mexico City, soaking in the language, culture, and people, and I lived life to the fullest. I was exhilarated with the art, nightlife, and general vibrancy of the city- I never imagined any city could win my heart as much as NYC, but Mexico City definitely earned a ranking with my most loved cities in the world. I love getting to look in from an outsiders perspective, and to appreciate the passion other artists put into their work. I found two such artists showing extremely inspiring talent and products- Mancandy and Mascaras De Alambre. Both were producing something I'd never seen before, and I was eager to collaborate and create. In Mancandy's work, I saw an unabashed power to represent queer culture in all its sensuality, strength and beauty. In Mascaras De Alambre's work I saw something raw, unseen, and wonderfully expressive, something that resonated to the core. As my time in the city progressed, I was constantly welcomed in and included by countless inspiring people; what this all accumulated to for me, was the witness of a city in full bloom. Mexico City is no stranger to tragedy, loss, and turbulent press coverage, and yet I found the people there to be some of the friendliest and most alive that I've experienced in a long time. After visiting a flower market bustling with thousands of unique species to choose from, the idea sparked in my head to combine all these elements and express my interpretation of a city blossoming into the modern era while maintaining its roots in culture. With the autumn fast approaching, the idea of a Late Bloom, the last flowers of the season seemed appropriate and poignant. Many thanks go out to the family I've established in Mexico City; I will be relocating there in the near future!" -- Rob Woodcox
