Costume and fashion designer Bob Mackie has lived his dream. āI loved going to movies as a young person and seeing those glamorous ladies in beautiful clothes,ā he says. āIt inspired me and set me on a course for my life.ā
Now, with more than six decades in his profession, heās known for his designs for Cher, Carol Burnett, Elton John, and younger stars, including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Zendaya. In 2025, heās been traveling the country to share the documentary Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, which details his illustrious career.
The fashion legend will continue with documentary screenings in the coming year, and an exhibit of his designs that was created by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London will come to the U.S. in April.
āAs I look back, after almost 65 years in the industry, I am proud of what I have achieved,ā he says. His advice to others: āTry to do something you love. Be honest with your heart and soul to ensure you live your most authentic life. Everything else will fall into place.ā @bobmackie
