Overcompensating’s Mary Beth Barone describes her work “the same way the Prime Video app describes the movie Chicago: comedy, drama, playful, stunning.”
The NYC-based actor, writer, and comedian got her start on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and self-produced her first standup special, Thought Provoking. Her acting credits include the short film The Anne Frank Gift Shop and Netflix’s Black Mirror.
This year, Barone happily joined Benito Skinner (her cohost on the weekly podcast Ride) to star as his sister in Overcompensating. “My best friend, Benito Skinner, made a gay television show on a massive streaming platform, and I was lucky enough to be in it.”
The bisexual creative underlines the power of positivity. “I remind myself that queer joy is a form of resistance and we need to stay strong and stay focused so we can continue to fight against the current regime as they try to erase democracy, erase history, and erase people.” @marybethbarone
