The Moment: 1950: Tereska Torres publishes the lesbian pulp novel Women's Barracks, which sells 4 million copies.

Always busy, Lisa Kron can be seen zooming on her bicycle through New York City from one gig to another, never missing a beat. This year, while performing in a wacky production of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan, she also served as the book writer and lyricist for the musical adaptation of Fun Home, based on Alison Bechdel's modern classic, a graphic memoir about her own coming out and her father's complicated life and death. The show -- a collaboration with Jeanine Tesori, who wrote the music -- will premiere on Broadway in spring 2015.

Photographed at ACME Studio, Brooklyn on August 14, 2014
