As the northern neighbor of the United States, it makes sense that Canada would be a popular tourist destination for those looking to experience another country, but may not be ready to cross an ocean. Canada has a history of being LGBT-friendly, having passed same-sex marriage legislation back in 2005 (making it the fourth country in the world to do so) and becoming a hotspot for gay marriages before it became legal in the United States ten years later, in 2015.
