Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Fire Back at Trolls Attacking Gay Son

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Fire Back at Trolls Attacking Gay Son

Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union and family

The two recently got some hate for a family picture in which their son wears acrylic nails and a crop top.

Actress Gabrielle Union and future NBA hall of famer Dwyane Wade were just trying to celebrate their beautiful family over Thanksgiving weekend. However, after the power couple posted a family photo on Instagram that featured their son, Zion, absolutely rocking a long-sleeved crop top and beautiful acrylic nails, hate started pouring in from trolls around the internet.

The family isn't going to let the bigots win, though. As soon as Wade saw what kind of comments the post was getting, he immediately stepped up to defend Zion.

"I've seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo," he tweeted. "Stupidity is apart [sic] of this world we live in -- so I get it. But here's the thing -- I've been chosen to lead my family not y'all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride love & a smile!" Amen!

As a parent, Wade added, "[My] only goal is that my kids feel that I see them, love them, and support them." We stan an ally dad!

Wade and Union have been wonderfully supportive of 12-year-old Zion in the past, taking him to Pride back in April and affirming his identity in adorable social media posts at the time. "We support each other with Pride," the former Miami Heat star captioned his photos.

Union is enjoying time with her family after being fired from her job as a judge on America's Got Talent after she complained about its misogynist, racist workplace culture. Both Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough, who was also terminated, were given excessive notes on their appearance, with Union being told her hair was "too black." She also called out celebrity guest Jay Leno after he made an anti-Asian joke while filming a segment for the show.

It's good to see that even in a world where amazing people like Union and Zion get treated like this, they still have a family that stands by them. Wherever Zion ends up on his journey, he's in good hands.
