Man Attacks Bus Rider, Makes Homophobic Remark
And he's still at-large in New York.
One New York City bus rider was the alleged subject of a physical attack initiated by a man making "anti-white, anti-gay statements," according to Gothamist.
It was reported that the victim was on an MTA bus in downtown Brooklyn on July 30 when he was attacked by another rider "with a closed fist" and told "I hate everyone like you, you white bitch homo."
It was uncertain what sparked the attack, but it could be part of growing trend in hate crimes facing New York.
For 2016, there was a total of 598 hate crime incidents and almost a 19 percent jump in incidents from the year before cited in New York State's Criminal Justice Research Report for the year. Of these incidents, 123 incidents were considered anti-LGBT.

For New York City, where this attack occurred, the NYPD claims the number of bias motivated hate crime incidents against queer individuals totaled 59 in 2017.
This attack followed another more high profile one occurring in New York when a 25-year teacher was physically assaulted after the end of the Queens Pride Parade in early June.
The victim was left with "a busted lip and large, raised bruises around his head," according to CBS New York.
