After thanking the LGBTQ community for their strength and perseverance, Mraz ended the letter by writing:
We still have a long way to go
I am bi your side.
In an new interview with Billboard yesterday, Mraz opened up about his sexuality, confirming his attraction to multiple genders.
“Honestly, I didn’t realize [the letter] was going to be so telling,” the 41 year-old singer said. “But I’ve had experiences with men, even while I was dating the woman who became my wife. It was like, ‘Wow, does that mean I am gay?’”
He continued, “And my wife laid it out for me. She calls it ‘two spirit,’ which is what the Native Americans call someone who can love both man and woman. I really like that.”
Mraz met his wife, Christina Carano in 2011. The couple had an intimate wedding four years later in 2015.
That day, he posted a picture of the wedding to Instagram writing in the caption, “Today I was made the luckiest man in the world.”
