Several weeks have passed since New York rapper Uncle Meg had top surgery, now threes month into his public FTM transition. Real name Max Skaff, the artist has become more vocal about issues affecting the trans community, sharing last month a video about surgery preparation and releasing this week a candid discussion on the importance of pronouns.

The video sees Skaff in conversation with his trans friend, Lucas, recalling a recent experience being misgendered in the hospital. While getting top surgery, Skaff said a nurse was inquiring about medication, and despite understanding that he was taking testosterone, continued calling him "she." Lucas empathizes, adding that he'd often avoid the gender conversation altogether early in his transition.
Both mutually agreed that they/them pronouns are the best solution for any gender confusion. "Everybody, please stay educated," Skaff says. "And if you're unsure, you know what I think is a good idea? They should use 'they.'" Watch the candid chat, below, and stream his full-length album, Bug.
