"This is an attack on humanity itself."
Speaking at an Orlando vigil in Los Angeles on Monday, Lady Gaga gave a powerful speech calling for a "race thoughtfully and loudly toward solutions," before tearfully reading a list of the 49 victims' names and ages.
Standing in front of large signs spelling out O-R-L-A-N-D-O, Gaga gave profound words of mourning and solidarity.
"As we have now witnessed the largest mass shooting in American history, I can't help, but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself. This is an attack on everyone."
She continued, addressing the LGBT community directly:
"I hope you know that myself and so many are your allies--not only me, but everyone here--we represent the compassion and the loyalty of millions of people around the world who believe in you. You are not alone."
Gaga has also been active on Twitter in her support for the Orlando victims and their families, as well as the queer community as a whole.
